Schools always have police around so it could easily be taken away but why would a school have the right to take something away. I never had this problem in college but in high school they tried to take my iPhone and I wouldn't let them. I said they have no right to take it, they called the police down to the class I was in but by the time they arrived the school days just barely ended. Everything turned out ok.
For you it turned out fine... That time... If you are asked to give it up, be reasonable and ask if you may retrieve it at the end of the day. If you put up a fight they may think you are up to something and it can get worse. The OP stated he did nothing wrong, so just give it up until the end of the day and then simply take it home. Pick your battles wisely. If you want to change that policy, do it the right way.

iCal has been a disaster for 4 OS X releases now. It is, without a doubt, Apple's worse application. It's missing functionality, basic functionality, that has been in every calendaring program since 1992.
iCal is a sad example of Apple going to far to the extreme of minimization.
All I really wanted in the last 2 OS updates was a decent iCal. It's the only thing on the Mac that continually hurts my productivity.
I've learned that iCal is just the price of being a Mac guy, and I don't hope for greatness. Heck, I don't even hope for mediocrity. iCal is always going to be slow, inconsistent UI and barely usable.
I'm at peace with that fact now.
I can't say I agree. Mabe it's because I haven't gone and tried other calendering programs, but I use iCal every day and it's a pleasure to use. It syncs events and to-dos with widgets on dashboard, I'm subscribed to some online calenders to keep track of lost and 24, amung other things, and it's all colorful and organized and looks great. Sure, theres definitely potential for upgrades, but I think it's great as is.

I'm gonna call a big fat BS on this one...

Part of the blame goes to Apple and their money grubbing ways, in that they want a 30% cut of gross sub $. This makes it far less attractive for publishers to do this. Also, I too would love a unified model, but I am sure Apple would also want a slice of the action here as well.
Oh please, you get a mag for about $1.50 mailed to your house, how is $4.99 or even $2.99 even remotely justified...

So what happens when the might of Apple comes crashing down on you - public execution at dawn?!
They should be punished, not executed, but this is China.
They leaked the designs of a consumer product. Big who cares. It's not like they leaked nuclear submarine schematics. Personally I just think they should be dismissed. Anything more is heavy-handed. Can't believe how many people are advocating the death penalty here - it's an iPad - in the grand scheme of things you probably couldn't leak a design more trivial, or of less importance. Business shouldn't stand in the way of basic human rights.
They should be fired as a minimum punishment.
A significant amount of the news on this site (arguably, the most interesting news) is a result of the leaking of trade secrets.
So what's our view? "Give us all the interesting info, then arrest the people who leaked it to us!" ? Doesn't that seem a tiny bit... hypocritical?
This site is hypocritical in many ways. Rumors come from leaks.

Uh oh. Looks like I struck a nerve, right where it hurts (the ego), to a luxury car driver.
...Sorry to call you out on why exactly you pulled the trigger on your ill-advised purchase. I'm not coming on here saying I'm perfect. I have my flaws too. It's just that one of them isn't the overpowering desire to impress others with my material goods at all costs.

I don't know about anybody else, but showing off never entered MY mind when I bought my Macs. I just like a computer I don't have to reinstall the OS for twice a year. Of course, you are free to ASSUME whatever you like about my attitude or motives, I don't care. I'm happy with my purchase, and don't feel it's ill-advised at all.
Yeah, there may be Mac owners with the attitude you speak of; in fact, I'll bet anything there are more than just a few. But most of the Mac owners I know just like how they work, and often struggle to make the payments.
The point is that Macs, like many luxury cars, are better engineered than the cheap models are, and therefore, work better, with a smoother experience and better handling characteristics. That isn't a controversial statement in the automotive world - there, it's pretty much known that you get what you pay for.
Then again, even there, you get the dorks that just like to argue...

As much as I wish all this to be true, Koreans know absolutely NOTHING about Apple products. The Korean media is also very biased towards Samsung.

I am in agreement with Chaz on this. With Android and iOS having so much built into their portable OS now, I kinda think the days of dedicated GPS devices are going to be limited.
True but I still see a use for dedicated devices. I rode across the country and back (6000 miles) on my bike. I don't think the iPhone would hold up too well to the rain, snow and vibration. Not to mention not being able to use the touchscreen with gloves on. ;)

I think these shots are real... No reason to doubt, I guess.
As for the Icon preview, I could swear that this feature has been mentioned in Apples Leopard feature previews/notes. Either way, it better have all that. Vista has "Live Icons", which show an icon-sized version of the application, even if it's video, OpenGL, web page or whatever when the app is opened and minimized. And for documents/images/videos it shows their actual content as an icon. IIRC, unopened video clips can loop a small segment of the clip as the icon.

I was just going to say the EXACT same thing! You said it perfectly, whenpaulsparks! That's right, I don't want to see Steve Jobs demo some new Spotlight/Sherlock. I want to see revolutionary, fricken awsome, Vista-crushing, earth shaking features, a totally revamped and polished GUI, Enterprise features, etc. Come on Apple! Don't dissapoint me!I doubt there will be a silver bullet feature that will blow away vista, but overall improvements will take OS X to the next level.

Photoshop CS2 Suite:
Power Mac G5 Quad 2.5 ghz: 0:46 s
Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.66 ghz: 0:54 s
Same number of cores and similar clock: the Mac Pro more than holds its own. Pretty darn impressive, actually, if you ask me. At those levels, I don't see why you'd hold off getting a Mac Pro (if Photoshop is what pays the bills for you).'Cause it's 4 cores short of a full deck. That's why we're waiting to start buying Mac Pros until next week when Apple starts taking orders for Dual Clovertown 8-core Mac Pros on Tuesday November 14.

Design has nothing to do with it. It is a function of availability of parts. If the parts are not being made yet, the phone can't be manufactured. I am hoping Apple is waiting for the second generation LTE chips.
Well yes,..
If the issue is purely the tech just isn't ready then throwing cash at it won't help.....
but Apple has a big horde of Cash so if the issue with the parts is the economic risk of retooling to build them and ramp up production. Then that is something pre-buying maybe able to solve.

this doesn't contradict loop insight at all.
they said no iPhone 5 at WWDC. This is saying iPhone 5 is coming shortly after WWDC.
arn
I could be 100% wrong but didn't Loop Insight quote the source as saying that they weren't stupid and they wouldn't be releasing a new iPhone so soon after the release of the Verizon iPhone?
EDIT: I can't find it, so maybe I am nuts.

What point are you trying to make here? That the victim is not a victim if she did not weigh up carefully enough the possibility that her husband might be a homicidal lunatic?
My point is that it takes two to tango and both the morons are to blame. What point are you trying to make? We get it. You side with the lady of the situation because you think it's reasonable for her to believe a car with a driver wouldn't move.

Does it have the new 65 nm chipset?
On temaxbox forum they say it is same parts as in the old units.
From IGN Article:
The new "Elite" console contains the same parts, processors and chips as the Core and Pro units, and is the same dimensions, only it's got an HDMI port on its back-side (in addition to the standard RGB port) and comes with a 120GB hard disc drive (HDD), cables and headset, all in black.
http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=516104
And is the hdmi alone worth to upgrade to the elite from the premium? You can get the 120Gb hdd as a stand-alone accessory.
And Sony responds: http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/13112/Sony-Responds-to-Xbox-360-Elite-Announcement/
